Description
ELECTRI International is seeking a highly motivated and creative Summer Intern to assist with the development, management, and communication of key workforce development initiatives. This 12-week hybrid internship will provide hands-on experience in program coordination, marketing, and strategic communications, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of workforce development and public relations on the national scale.
The intern will play a vital role in supporting key workforce programs such as the NECA/ELECTRI Project Management Apprenticeship, National Student Chapter Program, and industry workforce toolkits while also contributing to ELECTRI’s marketing and communications strategies.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Management:
• Assist in the planning, execution, and tracking of workforce development programs.
• Support logistics and coordination for apprenticeship and student engagement initiatives.
• Research best practices in workforce development and contribute insights to program strategies.
• Maintain program documentation and assist in tracking program success metrics.
Marketing & Communications:
• Act as a liaison between ELECTRI marketing and NECA’s PR team to enhance external visibility.
• Shadow the NECA PR team to learn about industry communication strategies.
• Assist in the development of social media content, newsletters, promotional materials, and blog articles to showcase ELECTRI’s
Workforce development initiatives.
• Support PR efforts related to apprenticeships, student engagement, and workforce initiatives.
• Use Canva and WordPress to create and update program-related digital content and presentations.
Training & Professional Growth:
• Participate in structured training and mentorship to develop skills in program management, communications, and industry engagement.
• Learn how to collaborate across departments and external partners to support national workforce initiatives.
• Work on a Passion Project aligned with ELECTRI’s workforce development efforts, culminating in a final presentation.
Qualifications
• Current undergraduate or graduate student interested in workforce development, communications, or marketing.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with Canva and WordPress (or willingness to learn).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools.
• Interest in public relations, storytelling, and strategic messaging.
Internship Structure & Support
• Hybrid Work Requirement:
o The intern must report to the Washington, DC, office at least twice per week.
o Additional work can be completed remotely on flexible days.
o Must be able to reliably commute to the office for in-person collaboration.
Coaching & Support:
o Regular check-ins with the Director of Future Workforce Development.
o Exposure to NECA PR professionals, industry leaders, apprentices, and workforce professionals.
o Hands-on mentorship and professional development opportunities.
