Technical Business Analyst

The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves to be at the heart of that change.

Our aim is to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs). We are building a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription business with a global addressable market of £2.4 billion per annum, by digitally connecting hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets.

We have already attained a market leading position and KrakenFlex is a recognised thought leader and innovator in the industry. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed and we are pleased to announce that we now have the full support and backing of Octopus Energy, an award-winning UK energy supplier who share our passion and values.

We’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst to work alongside our agile Product Teams, to help shape and evolve our product.

What you'll do
  • Work alongside developers to build a quality product which customers will love, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, 3 amigos discussions and demos.
  • Gather requirements from a range of different stakeholders - including clients, product, market specialists and partnerships.
  • Analyse technical documentation e.g. API documents, and assess compatibility with our standard feature set - which is a key input into our commercial review process.
  • Act as the interface between business requirements, our partners and the software development team.
  • Brief software engineers on technical scope, and collaborate on determining the right development approach considering a range of factors such as technical complexity, scope, cost, timeframes and business value.
  • Input into planning decisions in collaboration with delivery and product.
  • Propose ways to slice releases, to deliver business value quickly.
  • Plan, track and manage expectations about completion of technical analysis tasks.
  • Collaborate with the agile team, participating in or running ceremonies (e.g. retrospectives, discovery sessions)
  • Help us identify how we can improve our processes.
  • Contribute to partner management conversations with our partnerships team.
  • Coordinate across long-standing product teams and proactively manage dependencies in order to deliver product outcomes.
  • Write user stories; high level user journey and business process flow charts and conduct ongoing user acceptance testing, product quality, and product documentation.

What you'll need
  • Experience in the agile software lifecycle; from inception; requirements gathering and prioritisation through to launch and continuous improvement. You should be comfortable wearing many hats in this process - in order to achieve our goals.
  • Excellent communication skills - the ability to summarise complex problems and recommend concise plans of action, translating for non-technical audiences.
  • Solid technical background with hands-on experience in software delivery, and a willingness to get stuck into the technical detail of complex services and use cases. Experience understanding and translating API documentation into requirements for the development team. Ability to write sample script/use tooling to call APIs.
  • Facilitation skills, and ability to gather requirements from meetings, technical specifications and process flows.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills and experience - both internally and externally.
  • Experience and examples of knowing when to ‘zoom in’ to the detail - and when to ‘zoom out’.
  • A bias to action.
  • A passion for clean tech and a strong desire to contribute to the decarbonization of the planet.
  • Experience working internationally; or in the energy sector (desirable)
