Job Summary: The Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and documenting financial analysis reports and projects, and overseeing accounts payable, inventory, and payroll.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Has authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, transfer, provide training opportunities, recommend merit increases, evaluate performance, create and adjust performance standards, create and/or delegate staff scheduling, invoke disciplinary action and demonstrate the fair and equitable treatment of all Team Members.
- Exhibits Leadership skills through the continuous evaluation, guidance and encouragement of Team Members.
- Assists the Director of Finance with the preparation of financial analyses and reports.
- Assists the Director of Finance with month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting.
- Assists the Director of Finance throughout the yearly budget and budget modification process.
- Assists the Director of Finance with applicable quarterly financial and loan covenant compliance reporting.
- Assists with preparing and monitoring the annual Capital Expenditure budget.
- Reconciles CapEx monthly with the budget, general ledger and available CapEx funds; provides reports to the Director of Finance.
- Reconciles casino construction projects AIA Pay Applications or similar paperwork.
- Assists Director of Finance and General Manager with strategic planning via supporting analytics.
- Assists with outside auditors during periodic or annual audits and assists in the preparation of audit schedules.
- Coordinates more complex analytical projects with other members of the finance team and/or other departments.
- Update and maintain monthly statistical metrics.
- Reviews and distributes monthly departmental financial reports.
- Maintains and reconciles fixed asset schedules.
- Interfaces with departmental managers on various related financial issues.
- Researches and prepares variance analysis and explanations using key metrics.
- Ensure accounts payable, inventory, and payroll are in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Manage the preparation of weekly payroll and ensure completion in a timely manner in accordance with applicable Tribal, Federal and State regulations and laws.
- Prepare and review journal entries, inventory, payroll, month-end balance sheet reconciliations, and associated journal entries.
- Maintain knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions and events at Odawa Casino Resort.
- Conducts oneself in a positive and professional manner, acting as a role model for all Team Members.
- Greet all guests and Team Members in a friendly, open manner.
- Attend all meetings as required.
- Complete all required training satisfactorily.

- Work at other properties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum five to eight (5-8) years accounting experience as well as two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Five (5) years of experience in hospitality, resort, and/or gaming accounting is preferred.
- Must have at least two (2) years of consulting or direct experience in financial reporting including monthly management level non-GAAP financials (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cashflows and departmental P&L’s and GAAP financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cashflows and footnotes).
- Must have at least two (2) years of consulting or direct experience with completing the payroll process including payroll tax reporting and related forms.
- Strong in a broad range of accounting practices including month-end, quarterly and year-end close, forecasting, cost control and budgets.
- Considerable and complex PC skills required working with spreadsheets and databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be flexible with shifts and days off.
- You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
- Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance with the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission and be able to serve in the position under any other applicable law.
