Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Full Stack Developer to join our team focused on developing both frontend and backend solutions for Onto Innovations optical metrology and inspection systems. The role involves creating new applications with sophisticated data visualizations and around machine learning pipelines.

The ideal candidate is excited about pushing the boundaries of semiconductor technology, eager to make impactful contributions to the company and our customers, enjoys working with complex industrial systems, and is keen to continue honing their software engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in all stages of software development, including planning, requirements analysis, documentation, design, coding, and quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, executives, engineers, and project and product managers.
• Help lead the company’s transition to a web-based environment.
• Help troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the team.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and new technologies.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

• 3+ years’ experience in a full stack development position is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated high degree of competency in front end development environments.
  • Frontend: JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Blazor), HTML, CSS, responsive design, RESTful APIs, cross-browser compatibility, performance optimization.
  • Backend: Server-side languages (e.g., c#, Node.js, Python, Java), database management (SQL, NoSQL), API development, server architecture, security best practices, and containers.
• Strong desire to work in the semiconductor industry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to take on new challenges, being open to new ideas, and having a continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to work independently.
• Willingness to engage in occasional international travel (<5%).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with machine learning applications and concepts such as: training, labeling, inference, and deployment.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry or a related field.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban software development methodologies.
