Status: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Salary Information:

Associate Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$105,400-Annual Maximum Salary-$177,100

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pro-rated based on hours/week.


Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.


The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.


PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:

The Director of NIHC Interprofessional Practice and Education is responsible for overseeing the development, growth, implementation, and assessment, of the interprofessional educational curriculum. Director works closely with PNWU academic programs, the PNWU Simulation Center, and external institutional partners to ensure curricular activities align with accreditation requirements and strategic priorities. The Director works in parallel with the Director of NIHC Operations who manages the NIHC budget, policy and procedure development related NIHC activities, and the delivery of the NICH curricular offerings and program outcomes assessment and reporting. The NIHC Director of Interprofessional Practice and Education reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.


The Associate Professor of occupational therapy serves in the MSOT program under the direction of the Dean. The emphasis will be on the development of program objectives, goals, curriculum, policies and assessment including the clinical education component and other duties as assigned by the Dean.


Essential Job Functions:


Administration

• Leads the development, implementation, and assessment of the interprofessional education curriculum and faculty and professional development programs on behalf of the NIHC, ensuring content of curricular activities fulfill functional gaps in healthcare delivery and community health needs

• Ensures Interprofessional Education (IPE) program components meet or exceed accreditation requirements for all contributing programs

• Represents the NIHC at local, regional, and national levels, including conferences, training sessions, and symposiums

• Assists the Director of NIHC Operations with annual reporting, strategic planning, budgeting, and alignment with the program’s mission and vision

• Chairs IPE advisory councils, ensuring effective program management

• Supports research and scholarly activities related to IPE


Scholarship of Teaching

• Developing course materials in specialized area of expertise including writing course syllabi and developing appropriate instructional methods

• Teaching courses assigned in content area of expertise and meeting program standards for student and peer evaluations

• Developing and administering student assessments including exams, quizzes, and assignments, as appropriate

• Enhancing expertise in teaching content areas through continuing education, practice, and using current literature in teaching content

• Participating in ongoing curriculum and program assessment

• Meeting all classes as scheduled; reporting final grades at the designated time; having an appropriate number of office hours

• Maintaining licensure and certification as appropriate 

  

University and Community Service/Clinical Practice

• Advising students

• Assisting in the recruitment and admissions of students 

• Attending school/college events including student orientation and commencement exercises

• Performing committee assignments at the school/college and university level 

• Performing community service 

• May be required to maintain clinical practice as appropriate 

  

Professional Growth, Scholarly, and Creative Activities

• Engage in scholarly activity and maintain an active research agenda 

• Supervise and mentor student research

• Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards

• Other duties as assigned (perform and report on any other reassigned duties for the program)

Requirements

Education:

• Required: 

• Earned doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)

• Licensed or eligible for OT licensure in Washington State and a minimum of 3 years of practice 


• Preferred:

• Additional professional qualifications (e.g., other specialty certification, or additional degree) 

• Academic doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, DSc); ABD candidates may be considered


Experience:

• Required:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an academic setting

• Documented expertise in area of teaching as well as delivery method

• Record of scholarly productivity commiserate with the level of Associate Professor

• Record of institutional and professional service commiserate with the level of Associate Professor

• Documented expertise in area of teaching as well as delivery method


Preferred:

• Knowledge of business management and fiscal practices
