NCR Mammography Tech

Performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures with a thorough understanding of FDA and MQSA regulations as well CA state requirements. Responsible for equipment quality control test documentation. Must meet the continuing education requirements for California, FDA, and American College of Radiology. May rotate through Bone Density services as needed. Will rotate through general radiography as needed. Must be able to use knowledge and ability to assist physicians, interpret orders and explain procedures to RNs, patients, and families. Secondary responsibilities include a thorough understanding of the department. This position is responsible for performing routine procedures and specialized examinations. The Radiology Technologist responsibilities include screening patient for appropriate medical history, providing quality patient care, performing quality assurance testing, and consent forms.
 
Independently performs all routine procedures, including localizations as needed. Uses correct anatomical positioning, including proper shielding and collimation to ensure quality radiographs. Selects correct technical factors to produce optimal radiographs with lowest amount of radiation. Screens patient for appropriate medical history. Explains procedure to patient, gives post exam instructions, and instructs patients on protocols for receiving results of their tests. Completes necessary billing with CPT and diagnosis codes. Keeps exam room stocked appropriately with necessary supplies.
 
Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.  Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).  Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.  Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health Medical Group rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health Medical Group.
 
Job Requirements
 
Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
Preferred Education: Associate degree
Minimum Experience: 2 years 
Preferred Experience: 3-4 years
Required License: Mammographic Radiologic Technology, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT(R)
Preferred License: Not Applicable
Required Certification: Certified Radiologic Technologist CRT(R)
