Lead Software Engineer – Enterprise Systems

Parallel Systems is innovating autonomous battery-electric rail vehicles to revolutionize freight transportation by integrating with industry and customer systems. They seek a Lead Software Engineer to own, develop, and scale their enterprise backend platform, driving technical excellence and enabling autonomous freight operations.

Skills

Expertise in backend or systems-level software development.
Proficiency in system-level languages such as Rust, C++, or C.
Experience with distributed systems or cloud-based applications.
Strong understanding of networking, concurrency, and system performance.
Familiarity with Linux-based environments and production infrastructure.
Ability to lead technically while actively coding.

Responsibilities

Lead development of a distributed backend system for integration with external control and logistics platforms.
Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and vehicle teams to translate technical requirements into maintainable code.
Implement core backend services and APIs focusing on performance, security, and robustness.
Guide architecture decisions and ensure technical alignment across systems.
Own full software development lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
Mentor engineers and promote a culture of code quality and technical excellence.
