Software Architect – Enterprise Systems

Parallel Systems pioneers autonomous battery-electric rail vehicles to revolutionize freight transportation by shifting trucking loads to rail. They seek a Software Architect to lead backend enterprise system design, enabling integration with rail control and logistics systems to improve safety, efficiency, and scalability.

Skills

Backend and systems-level software development expertise.
Systems design and distributed backend architecture skills.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
Technical leadership and cross-disciplinary communication abilities.
Integration of safety-critical infrastructure and third-party systems.

Responsibilities

Architect and oversee the scalable, fault-tolerant backend system connecting autonomous rail operations with enterprise and control infrastructure.
Design clean interfaces and robust data exchange mechanisms with third-party systems such as train control, yard logistics, and transportation management.
Lead technology, framework, and architectural pattern selection for backend services.
Define and enforce architectural standards ensuring security, performance, and maintainability across teams.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and external stakeholders to translate complex requirements into production-grade systems.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to backend engineers; review code and design proposals.
Stay updated on best practices in enterprise integration, distributed systems, and cloud architectures.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
