Mainframe Telecom Systems Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Mainframe Telecom Systems Software Engineer. In this role the candidate will be responsible for the following (but not limited too): The Mainframe Telecom Systems Software Engineer will support a mainframe payroll application.

 

• Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities associated with creating software across multiple functional areas and products.
• Prioritizes and allocates projects, products, and resources with the assistance of architects and managers.
• Participates in the strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of the software products.
• Makes employment decisions, such as hiring, rewarding.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of a multi-team or cross-functional organization.
• Directs software development projects to include, ensuring that projects are completed on time and according to quality standards, facilitating communication upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances and technical information.
• Organizes projects through development of a project plan which includes communication of product goals as defined by top management, definition of project strategy, identification of the roles and responsibilities of key project groups, development of a schedule with key milestones, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of project resources.
• Monitors technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
• Must be a US citizen
• Able to obtain Public Trust
• Strong experience with telecommunications in a mainframe environment is required
• Transfer protocols of FTP, SFTP, and Direct connect file transfers are also required
• Exposure to Mainframe TSO/ISPF
• JCL knowledge
• IBM Sort utility program 
• Microsoft product skills including Windows, Outlook, Excel and familiarity with CA-View (SAR) for reviewing completed mainframe jobs

Desired:

• REXX programming and file transfer security processes

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
