Job Description

The purpose of this job is to manage the general accounting function, as well as oversee the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements.

In this role you will: 

  1. Supervise and provide daily oversight of team; select, coach, train, and develop direct reports to include appraising job performance and conducting performance reviews
  2. Assist the manager in producing and reviewing various financial reports
  3. Implement accounting policies under direction of the manager
  4. Oversee calculating, posting, verifying, and typing duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records
  5. Lead day-to-day operations of the group
  6. Maintain and approve Accounts Receivable controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  7. Lead Accounts Receivable projects, both internal and external
  8. Oversee and approve journal entries, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and validating those transactions with reporting.  Organize and prioritize Accounts Receivable issues ensuring timely resolution
  9. Lead process improvements for Accounts Receivable activities including monthly reconciliations

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent certificate required
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
  • Minimum three years’ experience in accounting or related area required
  • Minimum two years’ supervisory experience preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills with a focus on Excel
  • Familiarity with Lawson or similar software
  • Advanced knowledge of card services’ various networks and processing relationships as well as Europay, Mastercard, and Visa (EMV) computer chip card technology and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance preferred
  • Experience working with large volumes of data from disparate data sources and ability to turn results into meaningful and actionable intelligence
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
  • Ability to manage and lead a team
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong teamwork, problem solving, conflict management, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate financial principles and practices with non-finance team members
  • Ability to work with and collaborate with other departments
