Job Summary

Responsible for leading the creation, coordination, and implementation of strategic plans, campaigns, and initiatives to ensure that donors and prospective donors experience high-quality intentional interactions that foster long-term engagement and investment. Creates and executes unique and impactful stewardship and recognition opportunities and communications through various vehicles and formats to demonstrate the value and impact of philanthropic investment, increasing revenue and enhancing philanthropic relationships. Plans, coordinates, and executes donor recognition and stewardship events and activities, interfacing with high-level donors and volunteers to strengthen their relationships.

Essential Functions

  • Works on strategic stewardship initiatives (Legacy Society (Planned Giving & Endowment Donors, Endowment Reports, Web-based stewardship platforms, Customized, individual stewardship for significant donors/groups of donors, Stewardship events)

  • Works on donor communications and campaigns (Cases for Support, Proposals, Customed Campaigns including 3rd Party Campaigns, Electronic and web-based Communications (newsletters, annual reports)

  • Works on gift announcements, including Media Relations.

  • Leads the strategic identification, development and execution of donor recognition opportunities, including naming opportunities, recognition walls, plaques and awards, and other opportunities, ensuring internal alignment, equity, and appropriateness while strengthening the culture of philanthropy at Prisma Health-Upstate and enhancing fundraising opportunities.

  • Develops and updates naming policy, and other policies related to donor recognition; ensures adherence to brand and other standards.

  • Creates and maintains an inventory of naming/recognition opportunities (available and secured) and gift thresholds.

  • Manages awards for donors, clinical partners, and volunteers

  • Supervises, leads, and mentors a team of donor relations professionals.  Assists in annual goal setting process and provide opportunities for professional development.

  • Works on strategic planning and budgeting, including cost estimating, invoice and requisition processes, and vendor negotiations.

  • Interfaced with Marketing, Community Relations, Media Relations, and selected outside consultants for consistency with messaging and awareness.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree

  • Experience - Eight (8) years fundraising, donor relations, volunteer management, marketing/communications or related field. Supervisory experience, including leading, managing, training, mentoring and evaluating. - Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of the role of all fundraising programs and activities as they function individually and collectively to meet institution and donor expectations.

  • Ability to ​Stay abreast of trends in donor recognition and stewardship/best practices.

  • Strong written communications skills, including proposal writing, media releases, annual reports, donor acknowledgements, etc.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, including presenting information to individuals and groups.

  • Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines.

  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, and tenacity to meet individual and team goals.

  • Ability to work effectively in a large, complex, and dynamic organization and adapt to change.

  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

  • Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)

  • Mathematical skills
