JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Animal Diagnostic Lab at Penn State is seeking applicants for part-time job of part-time necropsy attendant.
Job duties to include:
- Receive, unload, log, and properly store carcasses and specimens
- Set up and sanitize necropsy tables, equipment, and materials
- Assist Pathologist with necropsy procedures; prepare and position the carcass/specimens for examination and dissection; collect samples as directed
- Dismember carcasses and prepare for storage, incineration, or cremation
- Properly store carcass and biohazard waste
- Monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures; perform site and safety checks; report issues
- Operate and perform user maintenance on hoists, scales, saws, and other necropsy equipment
- Assist with stocking inventory; conduct and record physical counts
- Follow Good Laboratory Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and Quality System requirements
- Maintain sanitary conditions in working areas; wash and sanitize walls, floors, and equipment
- Remove snow and ice from loading dock and around building; spread anti-skid material
