JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a part-time Research Support Assistant to work on a range of Food as Medicine initiatives. This position will include working with a community-engaged, dynamic, fast paced, interdisciplinary research team. This position will work up to 24-hours/week.
This candidate will assist in coordinating and executing aspects of our SNAP Ed and community-based nutrition education programming. This includes providing in person or zoom based nutrition education, food tastings, and cooking demonstrations to diverse groups of people who are SNAP eligible in low-income settings (children, adults, and families). The candidate will also be responsible for helping to identify new program delivery sites within the community and maintaining existing relationships where SNAP-Ed approved curricula.
This candidate must have the following:
Strong interpersonal skills, building relationships with diverse populations
Promote and facilitate community engagement through outreach efforts.
Foster relationships with community members and organization
Plan and deliver high quality, culturally appropriate nutrition programing to diverse communities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven experience delivering education programs (individuals and groups)
Experience evaluating education programs and comfortable collecting outcomes data
Assist in the development of educational materials and resources (i.e.Word, Canva, Adobe Suite)
Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and others)
Comfortable following a recipe to prepare food for site visits.
Reliable transportation to travel to community sites in Dauphin and Lebanon counties
Other qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education
Spanish language fluency is highly desired and a significant plus.
Working Conditions:

2) Occasional evenings and weekends at site locations
3) Working in the office, kitchen, and on-site locations
