Position Overview:
Purely Optimal is seeking a highly organized and analytical Accountant with strong cross-border expertise to manage and streamline our accounting practices. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions, compliance with tax regulations, and efficient management of financial reporting, especially concerning our international operations.
Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare and process monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- Collaborate with the Controller to manage the month-end close process and ensure timely reporting.
Cross-Border Transactions:
- Handle all aspects of cross-border financial transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and tax laws.
- Analyze and report on currency fluctuations and their impact on financial performance.
- Work with external professionals for cross-border tax filings and compliance.
Ecommerce Accounting:
- Monitor and reconcile sales transactions from various ecommerce platforms (e.g., Amazon, Shopify).
- Assist in managing inventory accounting and reconciliation with ecommerce sales.
- Track and analyze financial performance metrics related to ecommerce operations, identifying areas for improvement.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations in both Canada and the U.S.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments (marketing, operations, and logistics) to support financial initiatives and resolve discrepancies.
- Communicate financial insights and recommendations to management and team members.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in accounting, particularly with cross-border and ecommerce businesses.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with ecommerce platforms and financial reporting tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts.
- Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams while managing individual responsibilities.
