The role

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is looking to appoint an experienced outreach and engagement manager to help grow the reach and impact of our educational programmes in the UK.

You will develop and deliver outreach campaigns and events that engage teachers and students across the UK, with a particular focus on schools in England. You will support the full range of the Foundation's educational products, with an initial focus on Ada CS, which supports the teaching and learning of the computer science GCSE and A Level in England and the equivalent qualifications in Scotland.

You will need to be organised, with a proven track record in event management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery. You don't need to be a specialist in computer science, but you will need to have experience of working with schools and have a good understanding of the structure of the school system in the UK.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver inspiring and engaging online and in-person events across the UK, including teacher training and student-facing workshops.
  • Develop and implement outreach campaigns that engage schools, teachers, and young people, with a particular focus on those who come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the technology sector.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including schools, universities, industry partners, and community organisations.
  • Identify and develop new partnerships that can grow the reach and impact the Foundation’s educational products.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Communications teams so that outreach and events showcase our products and resources effectively.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of outreach and events, using both qualitative and quantitative data including participant feedback to improve the effectiveness of activities over time.

Experience and personal attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth, and we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.

  • A commitment to the mission and values of the Raspberry Pi Foundation
  • Experience of running events, workshops and training, ideally with educators and young people
  • A good understanding of the structure of the school systems in the UK, particularly in England and Scotland
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of communities and organisations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to represent the Foundation externally, write clearly, and to build rapport with diverse audiences, including educators and young people
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners
  • Good organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable with technology, including office and productivity applications (we use Google Workspace)
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the UK.

About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based educational charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies. You can read more about us on our careers page.

Established in 2008 and first known for our product — the wildly successful Raspberry Pi computer — the Foundation has developed education programmes, learning experiences, and products that are helping millions of young people learn vital new knowledge and skills

Through Code Club, we support the world’s largest network of free informal computing clubs for young people. Tens of thousands of educators have taken our online courses, and millions of people use our free online learning resources. To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, we conduct academic research, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.

Across all of our work, we work hard to engage young people who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the field of computing or who experience educational disadvantage. We work all over the world, with teams based in the UK, Ireland, North America, and India, and partnerships with mission-aligned organisations in over 40 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global movement to help young people learn about computing and digital making. You can read more about our mission, values, and goals in our Annual Review 2023 and our Strategy 2022–2025.
