The global Red Bull Digital Products & Services technology team is responsible for building, launching, and maintaining cutting edge technology solutions to support all global consumer-facing digital products such as streaming platforms like Red Bull TV, Mobile Apps & Games, RedBull.com as well as pushing the brand forward by staying on the cutting edge of Emerging Technologies.

 

The Engineering Manager, Streaming Apps Android leads the development of premium native applications for the Android ecosystem (Android Mobile and Android TV/Amazon Fire TV) within Red Bull's digital products portfolio. This role is responsible for managing both internal and third-party engineering teams to deliver high-quality, performant applications that support multiple customers through a shared, modular codebase. Working directly with the Director of Engineering for Streaming Apps, this position ensures rapid, predictable weekly deployments while maintaining exceptional quality standards and user satisfaction across all Android client applications.

 

The Engineering Manager oversees the implementation of Red Bull's multi-tenant application architecture, ensuring robust feature flagging, configurability, and reusable components that power premium digital experiences. This role drives technical excellence through the adoption of cutting-edge Android frameworks, swift troubleshooting, and 24/7 incident response capabilities, while fostering close collaboration with design, QA, and stakeholder teams to deliver consistent, exceptional results across both Google Play Store and Amazon App Store platforms.

Job Description

TEAM LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT

Manage, mentor, and grow a team of internal and external software engineers developing premium Android client applications

Cultivate an engineering culture focused on quality, velocity, innovation, and continuous improvement

Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and recognize exceptional contributions

Maintain high standards of engineering excellence while fostering professional growth and career development

Ensure effective collaboration between internal and third-party development resources

 

TECHNICAL DIRECTION AND ARCHITECTURE

Drive architectural decisions for modular, reusable components within Red Bull's multi-tenant application framework

Oversee implementation of critical features including in-app payments, video streaming, push notifications, live event phasing, user authentication, and third-party integrations

Ensure adoption of Android's latest frameworks, languages, and best practices across Android Mobile, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV applications

Guide implementation of performance optimization, feature flagging, and configurability strategies

Maintain balance between technical debt management and new feature development

 

DELIVERY EXCELLENCE AND PROCESS OPTIMIZATION

Lead weekly deployment cycles with predictable, high-quality results across Google Play Store and Amazon App Store

Implement efficient development processes that balance speed with quality and maintainability

Establish metrics and KPIs to measure team performance and product quality

Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, process refinement, and tooling enhancements

Ensure comprehensive testing strategies and quality assurance standards are met consistently

 

OPERATIONAL RELIABILITY AND STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

Manage 24/7/365 on-call support rotation and incident response procedures

Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving for complex technical issues across Android client applications

Collaborate effectively with design, QA, product, and stakeholder teams to align on requirements and expectations

Provide clear, transparent communication on project status, risks, and technical constraints

Balance competing priorities and resource constraints while maintaining consistent delivery velocity

Qualifications

10+ years of software development experience with 4+ years focusing on native Android applications (Android Mobile, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV)

5+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 5+ developers

Strong understanding of Android's development ecosystem including Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose, Material Design, and latest Android frameworks

Experience developing and maintaining modular, multi-tenant application architectures

Proven track record implementing complex features such as video streaming, authentication, push notifications, and in-app purchases

Demonstrated ability to manage both internal and external development resources effectively

Experience with agile development methodologies and weekly deployment cycles

Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and quality assurance processes

Excellent troubleshooting and incident management skills

Ability to balance technical excellence with business requirements and delivery timelines

Experience integrating multiple third-party SDKs and services

Experience with publishing and maintaining applications on both Google Play Store and Amazon App Store

Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent through proven working experience

Fluent in English, additional language skills an advantage

Ability to participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation and incident response

Additional Information

This position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.

The base salary range for this position is $136,000 - $204,000 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
