About the Role


Redhorse is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Project/Product Lead (Systems Architect) to join our team supporting the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) within the Department of Defense (DoD). This crucial role directly impacts data-driven decision-making across the DoD by designing and implementing scalable architectures for critical tools within the Advana platform, such as GAMECHANGER, Contract Search, and JBook Search. You'll work at the forefront of technology, leveraging AI/ML, NLP, and large language models to deliver innovative solutions that enhance national security. This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to mission-critical systems while working with a team of top experts in a challenging and rewarding environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and assess software development and data processing requirements to determine optimum, cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop an understanding of technical requirements, aligning them with business goals and translating them into architectures capable of handling complex search queries across large datasets within the Advana platform.
  • Collaborate with a hybrid team of analysts, engineers, and developers to research, build, deploy complex yet user-friendly search tools and analytical capabilities; or devise a plan for their development.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, UX designers, developers, and testers to create cohesive and sound designs forming the basis of scalable solutions.
  • Optimize software designs and architectures to achieve desired performance targets; devise tooling and methodologies to profile execution and capture performance metrics. This is a PWS workflow. Follow the languages/wordings in the requirements strictly.
  • Maintain system performance and leverage distributed computing environments.
  • Adhere to DoD standards to deliver innovative and mission-focused solutions.


Required Experience/Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5-7 years of experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • Significant experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Proficiency in one or more big data programming languages, such as Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience analyzing and decomposing activities and requirements into software designs allocated across system components/sub-components.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and related indexing technologies.
  • AI/ML model development, containerization, and productization experience.
  • Familiarity with natural language processing, the use of Large Language Models, and the use of both containerized and Apache Spark-based computing environments (e.g., Databricks) for processing unstructured text data.
  • Knowledge Graph construction and reasoning experience, including experience with property graph model frameworks and Neo4j.
  • Experience with cloud-based computing environments such as AWS or GCS, especially experience with GovCloud, C2S, SC2S, UC2S, and follow-on government cloud compute environments.
  • Experience in direct support of military or intelligence community customers, demonstrating progressive technical development and mission-focused outcomes.
  • Experience with cybersecurity compliance, secure software development methodologies, and the process for obtaining Authority to Operate (ATO) on defense and intelligence community networks.
  • Experience leveraging existing COTS/GOTS/OS tools in unconventional manners.
  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
