The ideal candidate has experience in cabinet-making, millwork, or woodworking, and is skilled in CAD/CAM programming and CNC operations. This individual will also collaborate with designers and production staff to refine parts for production and ensure seamless integration into larger assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software (e.g., VCarve or similar) to cut components from materials such as plywood, engineered lumber, MDF, drywall, and composites.

  • Set up and calibrate CNC machines, including selecting tools, setting speeds and feeds, and performing tool changes.

  • Operate the CNC machine to produce high-quality, precision parts while ensuring adherence to design specifications.

  • Plan and execute material handling strategies to minimize waste and optimize cutting layouts.

  • Work with diverse materials and ensure proper storage, handling, and usage.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical or software issues, working with internal or external resources as needed.

  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to refine parts for production, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability.

  • Work with production staff to integrate CNC-cut parts into larger assemblies.

  • Conduct quality checks on finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and standards.

  • Adjust programs or setups as needed to resolve issues and maintain quality.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

  • Follow best practices for CNC operations and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience programming and operating CNC machines, ideally in woodworking, cabinetry, or millwork.

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., VCarve, Fusion 360, or Mastercam).

  • Experience with a variety of materials, including plywood, MDF, drywall, and composites.

  • Proficiency in material optimization and layout strategies to minimize waste.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot CNC machine issues.

  • Experience performing maintenance and tool changes on CNC machines.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with design and production teams.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work standing, and perform manual tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in cabinet-making, millwork, or similar woodworking fields.

  • Familiarity with modular construction or home-building materials and techniques.

  • Experience working in a factory environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a factory environment with exposure to construction materials, tools, and equipment.

  • Physical tasks include standing, lifting, and repetitive movements.

  • Some overtime or weekend work may be required based on production schedules.
