Reframe Systems is on a mission to build net-zero carbon housing for all, at massive scale. To achieve our mission, we need to make net-zero carbon housing more affordable and we are re-imagining how housing is designed and built. Our volumetric module platform and highly-automated production system will drive down cost, delivery time, and embodied carbon for multifamily housing. We are setting up our first digital factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA), and have a roadmap to scale our presence nationally. We are disrupting assembly line manufacturing for housing production and are backed by leading VC firms in the industrial and construction space.
We are seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to define and optimize the process for assembling our low-carbon homes in a factory setting. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge in carpentry, construction, or other trades combined with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes. They will be responsible for defining the order of operations for assembly, establishing shop drawing requirements for our modeling team, and shaping the operator user experience for our digital interfaces. Candidates with backgrounds in offsite construction, cabinet-making, or furniture-making are particularly well-suited to this role. However, we are also open to individuals with manual assembly experience in industries such as automotive or aerospace.
Define manual assembly processes that improve labor productivity, consistency, and quality.
Develop and maintain clear, effective standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions tailored to manual processes.
Set requirements for shop drawings in collaboration with our modeling team.
Lead efforts to optimize workflows and station layouts using lean principles such as Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma.
Collaborate with the design, manufacturing, and operations teams to identify opportunities for labor cost reduction and implement practical solutions.
Collect, organize, and interpret production data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Support cross-functional teams in addressing quality issues by performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies in manufacturing, construction, and woodworking.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, or related role.
Proven expertise in manual assembly processes, including developing and optimizing work instructions.
Background in construction, cabinet-making, woodworking, or a related trade.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies such as 5S, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Passion for sustainable building, housing affordability, and an interest in advanced manufacturing technologies.
