Senior Software Engineer (Backend), Rocket Travel by Agoda

Rocket Travel by Agoda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong backend expertise to contribute across the full software development lifecycle and enhance critical applications with innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, infrastructure tooling, cloud deployment, and database management to support a high-availability product environment.

Skills

Proficient in Java and JVM-based development
Experienced with Infrastructure as Code tooling
Comprehensive understanding of AWS or similar cloud deployment
Skilled in relational, non-relational, and key-value database systems
Experience with automated testing frameworks and frontend technologies like Angular or React
Familiarity with key management systems
Knowledge of at least one JVM language such as Grails, Groovy, Kotlin, or Clojure

Responsibilities

Participate in all stages of software development from inception to deployment
Enhance visibility of critical applications and system processes
Evolve the Rocket toolkit by identifying and recommending optimal tools
Design and implement A/B tests to continuously improve user experience
Refactor and improve existing code to increase testability and resilience
Deploy daily to highly available production applications
Maintain empathy for user impact and prioritize rapid response to issues

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
