Academic Services is focused on supporting SAIT’s schools and departments in their pursuit of SAIT’s strategic priorities.  Academic Services brings together several academic development, delivery, and quality assurance units with a common goal: student success.  Academic Services provides unique, flexible support programing designed to help learners succeed in their chosen SAIT career program.



The Opportunity


SAIT Youth Initiatives is hiring a Dual-Credit Coordinator to join our team. This role is an 18-month temporary full-time position, covering a maternity leave.

 

This position involves providing support to the Manager, Strategic Youth Initiatives, and working closely with the other dual-credit coordinators to ensure the successful planning and delivery of dual-credit offerings for high school youth. This position will require the dual-credit coordinator to plan, develop, deliver, and report upon, the dual-credit and exploratory programs within SAIT’s Youth Initiatives. Particular focus will be on the continued growth within these program areas. Building and maintaining critical relationships with key stakeholders throughout secondary, post-secondary, industry, and community organizations, is an important aspect of this role, as well as the ability to quickly and effectively plan and implement programming for youth.

 

The position will also support other members of the Youth Initiatives team as needed. The other focus areas within SAIT’s Youth Initiatives include dual-credit programs, exploratory and transition programs to support youth in making the transition from high school to post-secondary, digital youth programs, camp programs, evening youth programs, and programs that support vulnerable youth populations.

 

This fast-paced, deadline-driven position requires an exceptional attitude, organizational skills, time management capabilities, and communication skills. This position is a hybrid position but will be required to work in the office at the SAIT main campus three (3) times a week, as per SAIT’s work-from-home policy, with additional days on campus base on program needs. There may be some required travel around Calgary or Alberta so candidates with access to a vehicle are preferred.

 

SAIT’s Youth Initiatives contribute to SAIT’s overall strategic goals and the person in this role will be a key stakeholder in contributing to delivering on the goals of the youth initiatives area.

 

This position reports to the Manager, Strategic Youth Initiatives.


The Role
  • Program Development & Coordination
  • Gather and understand stakeholder needs, particularly those of partners in K-12, to create appropriate program offerings.
  • Collaborate with the youth initiatives team to brainstorm, plan, develop, and implement a variety of youth programs.
  • Apply knowledge of the Alberta Program of Studies to program development for youth.
  • Participate in the creation of necessary documents for dual-credit and exploratory programs (schedules, field trip bookings, policies, reports).
  • Develop best practices for planning, delivering, and reporting on youth programs.
  • Respond to inquiries about potential new program areas.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including secondary schools, post-secondary institutions, community organizations, and industry.
  • Ensure professional, timely communication, including responding to emails and phone calls.
  • Assist team members as needed with program areas, including delivering sessions for youth programs.
  • Ensure the safety of all youth participants during program activities.
  • Collaborate with youth initiatives staff to contribute to the overall goals and direction of the Youth Initiatives team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties to support the vision and goals of SAIT Youth Initiatives.

  • Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain and update data and information related to the planning and implementation of SAIT dual-credit programs.
  • Work with other SAIT personnel to ensure the accuracy of records.
  • Provide information for reporting purposes back to the Project Manager - Strategic Youth Initiatives.
  • Create and update process documents and workflows for youth programs, particularly dual-credit and exploratory programs.


Education & Experience
  • Education & Experience:
  • Minimum Required
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree  
  • 3 years current experience in the area of youth education, specifically with regards to dual-credit programs.
  • Experience leading the planning and development of youth programs for youth in grades 10-12.
  • Relevant experience leading the planning and implementation of youth events, managing timelines, schedules, budget, and communication with various stakeholders.

  • Preferred
  • Bachelor degree in Education, Arts, or Business (or equivalent) with extensive experience in program development and coordination, particularly for youth.
  • 4 years experience working with youth (junior high and high school aged)
  • Experience coordinating programs and events in a post-secondary setting: budget, planning, executing, and closing.


Qualifications
  • Must have proof of education and certifications
  • Current and valid first aid and CPR level C
  • Background check with VSS.
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s license; access to a vehicle

Salary Range: $65,624.00 - $88,524.80

Hours per week: 40 hours
