Senior Software Engineer - job 1 of 2

Natera is a global leader in cell-free DNA testing focused on oncology, women’s health, and organ health. The Senior Software Engineer will lead full-stack development of a custom lab software solution for a high-throughput laboratory, working closely with engineering, product, designers, and end users to build scalable, reliable, and cost-effective AWS-based systems.

Skills

7+ years building production software with strong ownership and delivery focus.
Proficiency in Python, React, and TypeScript.
Strong SQL skills and experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Glue) and cloud optimization.
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) and messaging systems (Kafka).
CI/CD experience using GitLab and test-driven development practices.
Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable services supporting high-throughput laboratory workflows.
Build and maintain both front-end and back-end applications (React, TypeScript, Python).
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
Author comprehensive unit tests and promote high code quality and test coverage.
Collaborate with end users, product managers, and designers to refine requirements and iterate on deliverables.
Optimize AWS architecture and infrastructure for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement improvements.
Serve as technical lead and mentor for junior engineers.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
