Software Engineer II - Backend (Remote Eligible)

Smartsheet is a leading tech company empowering teams to manage projects and automate workflows with scalable solutions. They are seeking a passionate Software Engineer II to enhance their Developer Productivity team by modernizing test infrastructure and driving efficient development processes.

Skills

Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Kotlin, Java, and TypeScript.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
Strong knowledge of REST API development and support.
Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
Ability to use AI technologies for productivity enhancement.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Kotlin and Java.
Develop and enhance test frameworks, distributed testing solutions, and pipeline automation.
Solve distributed systems problems while working with AWS and Kubernetes cloud infrastructure.
Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
Mentor junior engineers on coding standards and best practices.
Partner closely with product management and other business units.
Leverage AI tools to increase team productivity and explore AI integration.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
