Linux Site Reliability Engineer

SpaceX is pioneering space exploration with a focus on enabling human life on Mars. They are seeking a skilled Linux Site Reliability Engineer with strong Kubernetes and container technology expertise to join their Linux Infrastructure team and support critical business systems.

Skills

Deep expertise with Kubernetes and containerized Linux environments.
Proficiency in automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform.
Experience supporting Linux servers in both physical and virtual setups.
Strong Linux shell and system configuration skills.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Golang.
Familiarity with CI/CD, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code.
Experience with Kubernetes internals, CNI, CRI, CSI plugins, and related tooling.
Monitoring and alerting expertise using Prometheus, Grafana or similar tools.
Configuration templating using Jinja, YAML, Helm, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

Install, manage, scale, and optimize Kubernetes and RKE clusters using automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
Collaborate with engineering teams to design, deploy, and support Kubernetes-based software platforms.
Build resilient and scalable systems supporting SpaceX’s mission-critical functions.
Implement improvements through standard change control methodologies.
Design and deliver solutions collaboratively, resolving issues proactively.
Establish standards and best practices for system design and implementation.
Promote knowledge sharing and upskill team members in Kubernetes expertise.
Drive automation to reduce operational overhead and toil.
Participate in on-call rotations for urgent support as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM field preferred.
Equivalent experience (5+ years systems engineering) considered in lieu of degree.
