Principal Product Design Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

SpaceX is pioneering technology to explore space and enhance global connectivity via Starlink, the world’s largest satellite internet constellation. The Principal Product Design Engineer will lead design, testing, and manufacturing projects for advanced consumer hardware in Bastrop, ensuring high-performance and user-friendly products.

Skills

Proficiency with CAD and FEA software
Expertise in mechanical and electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing
Experience in full-lifecycle consumer product design
Strong manufacturing process knowledge including high volume manufacturability
Capability in automation programming and control system design
Data-driven decision making and trade study execution

Responsibilities

Design consumer hardware from concept through high-volume production ramp
Develop and drive system-level optimizations based on design criteria and requirements
Execute technology and material developments to improve product performance, cost, and user experience
Perform field reliability testing and iterate hardware for harsh environments
Design and develop state-of-the-art production lines involving automation and process development
Refine production systems to maximize rate, yield, and uptime
Establish efficient product lifecycle management from supply chain to final integration

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (required)
Master’s degree in engineering or related field (preferred)
