About the Role
This role within the Books Research Publishing group supports Editorial in English and German language with contracting, rights securement, ethics and integrity of the content delivered by our authors and editors with a focus on a best-in-class author experience.
This role can be in our Heidelberg offices on a hybrid working model.
Role Responsibilities:
Support Editorial in executing processes and guidance to support business policies.
Support Editorial in handling complex research integrity and publication ethics issues based on COPE guidelines, collaborating with the Research Integrity group when needed.
Point of contact for questions around the use of internal and external artificial intelligence (AI) tools in manuscript preparation.
Ensure Springer Nature secures necessary rights for current and future content use by establishing a knowledge base of our rights content in order for Editorial to negotiate contracts efficiently.
Advising on contract, third party permissions and integrity queries, escalating as needed.
Assist Editorial in communicating contractual business policies to external parties (Authors, Editors, Societies, etc.).
Prepare specifications to develop technology and/or AI tools to identify misconduct.
Provide training on contracting, rights, and research integrity topics for the books group.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
Experience in publishing and working in a fast-paced environment, managing priorities with speed and accuracy.
Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly.
Ability to work collaboratively with in-house teams and build strong relationships.
Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach and strong prioritization skills.
Experience in training or guiding teams to develop their skills.
Fluent written and oral communication in German and English (mandatory).
Desirable:
Understanding of Books publication processes, workflows, and internal systems.
Strong proficiency in tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, and Miro, with the ability to use them effectively for collaboration, analysis, and communication.
Ability to work effectively in a complex matrix environment.
Strong engagement and motivational skills to bring Editorial teams on board with new processes.
