Sr. Manager, Software Engineering - Applied AI

Stacklok, an AI-first company founded by the Kubernetes co-founder, is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead their Applied AI Engineering team. The role involves defining strategic direction, mentoring engineers, and delivering secure AI-driven enterprise solutions that integrate large language models to empower productivity.

Skills

Leadership of high-performing software engineering teams including Staff-level engineers.
Experience in building and scaling distributed systems and SaaS products.
Expertise in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, SRE, and cloud technologies including Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with AI-enabled applications, LLMs, vector databases, and RAG techniques.
Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

Translate company priorities into clear team objectives and strategic execution.
Lead end-to-end engineering hiring practices focusing on quality and equity.
Manage day-to-day team operations, balancing structure with empathy.
Cultivate an engineering culture of ownership, collaboration, and growth.

Drive adoption of agile methodologies like Kanban and Scrumban.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferably.
Equivalent industry experience is also acceptable.
