Vice President, Foundational Education

As the Priority Initiative Leader for Foundational Education, you will play a central role in accelerating one of the most robust and successful portfolios in the country dedicated to transforming the K-12 education system from one-size-fits-all to learning that’s tailored to each student’s unique gifts, interests, and needs.  In this role, you will partner with leaders across the Stand Together community and a wide network of education innovators across the country to operationalize comprehensive strategies, drive a culture of accountability and performance analysis on our investments, and explore new frontiers to accelerate progress toward our vision for foundational education.

 

Your work will help shape the policy landscape at the state and federal level to open up choice for students and parents, and fuel innovation and entrepreneurship in civil society to expand access to individualized education for millions of students.


How You Will Contribute:
  • Continuously Improve Foundational Education Strategy: Shape and enhance Stand Together’s education strategy, increasing the organization’s ability to respond swiftly and strategically to new landscape opportunities and challenges.
  • Lead and Influence: Lead a diverse team focused on key educational issues, driving professional growth and talent development to maximize the team’s impact.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership: Partner with leaders across Stand Together’s various organizations to integrate and execute strategies, ensuring alignment with the broader community’s goals and objectives.
  • Align Stakeholders with Strategic Plans: Connect internal teams and external partners to vision, prioritized goals, and strategic initiatives for Foundational Education ensuring their ability to contribute to a shared vision and clear strategies.
  • Lead Rigorous Performance Analysis: Work closely with internal teams to conduct regular, detailed analyses of investment performance that drives better and faster decisions across organizations.
  • Leverage Best Practices and Insights: Incorporate deep subject matter expertise from the K-12 education movement to identify high-impact partnerships and new frontiers of the strategy.
  • Cultivate and Manage Partnerships: Foster new relationships and manage existing partnerships with influential stakeholders to support the advancement of educational initiatives.
  • Lead Strategic Communication Efforts: In partnership with Marketing and Communications, oversee the development of a comprehensive communication strategy, engaging media, Stand Together partners, and internal stakeholders to promote priorities and achievements.


What You Will Bring:
  • 15+ years of experience leading widescale, multi-pronged initiatives aimed toward transforming K-12 education.
  • Knowledge and proven track record of advancing public policy strategies within states that expands education choice and freedom.
  • Ability to lead leaders – you have experience galvanizing leaders to work closely together toward a shared vision.
  • Experience and confidence in leading without direct authority.
  • Experience working with a broad network of stakeholders, including policymakers, education leaders, and education innovators.
  • Ability to navigate an extremely complex and matrixed organization and diverse array of stakeholders.
  • Superior communication and leadership skills with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Passion for educational freedom and choice and reducing barriers to individualized education.
  • Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.

  • A blend of experience driving progress on visible policy and advocacy initiatives at the state level, as well experience driving/leading innovation outside of the traditional K-12 system.
