Director of Operations, Clinical Quality and Safety

We are seeking a Director of Operations, Clinicial Quality and Safety to lead our efforts in advancing clinical excellence, risk management, and patient safety. We’ll look to this critical position to upgrade our clinical quality performance reporting, launch clinical quality scorecards using data visualization best practices, and spin up tools and ad hoc analyses to identify further opportunities. You’ll know you’re successful when our Clinical Quality leadership consistently seeks your advice on project implementation and our Product leaders leverage your expertise to prioritize their roadmap.

In this role, you will drive key initiatives, including the establishment of robust quality and safety analytics, protocol adherence, and clinical policy development. Your leadership will directly influence clinical operations and ensure adherence to best practices in patient care and risk mitigation.

You will leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making, facilitate key safety committees, and develop hypotheses to support research initiatives, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions. You will also play a critical role in implementing and refining risk management strategies, including WeCare, and will act as an executive representative of Talkiatry’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centric care. You will report up to the Sr. Director of Clinical Operations.

About Talkiatry:

Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment.

60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low, and paperwork is unduly burdensome.   With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need—and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.

You will:
  • Develop a quality roadmap, including metrics, baseline, targets, and dashboard views.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to roll out internal policies and protocols and launch new internal products.
  • Use existing data infrastructure to build out clinical quality dashboards and run ad hoc analyses to develop new metrics.
  • Create insights into our clinical quality and safety metrics and develop tangible insights on how we can improve care across the practice.
  • Liaise with L&D and Clinical Education to translate findings into proprietary training delivered to clinicians and non-clinicians.
  • Manage projects related to the launch and integration of tech and AI solutions, leading to reliable systems of care and quality outcomes.
  • Support the Safety Committee to drive accountability across clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Facilitate timely completion of root causes analyses (RCA) where needed for safety events.
  • Be embedded as a team of 3 with the National Director of Clinical Quality and Staff Quantitative Scientist to support research initiatives, including IRB submissions.
  • Influence clinical leadership through data-backed recommendations and strategic insights, and represent the Quality and Safety function in high-profile meetings and external engagements.
  • Have a willingness and ability to become CPHQ certified within a year of starting the role

You have:
  • 8-10 years of experience in creating and running clinical quality and safety programs in healthcare.
  • Strong project management skills essential, with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong ability to recommend creative solutions using data visualization tools and languages, e.g. R, SAS, SQL, Python, Excel, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Omni, or PowerBI.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills to convey the usefulness of insights, reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders who are unfamiliar with data and analytics
  • Familiarity with value-based metrics and their role in quality-driven healthcare models.
  • Experience developing clinical pathways and protocols to standardize and improve patient care.
  • Nice to have: Research experience including familiarity with IRB submission / publication regulatory requirements.
