What we want  

The Program Manager, under direct supervision from the Assistant Dean of Education, is responsible for organizing, directing, and managing day-to-day activities of the School of Engineering Medicine's pre-clerkship medical education program.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.  

Location/Schedule: This position is located with the School of Engineering Medicine located in Houston, Texas in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Evening and weekend work may be necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (e.g. education, business, management) or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five years of educational leadership/management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education, business administration, management, or an applicable field.

  • Ability to lead and manage teams, projects and initiatives

  • Experience in providing high level administrative support, oversight, and managing a busy office environment

  • Experience with project management

  • Knowledge of TAMU policies and regulations

  • Knowledge of TAMU Workday system

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment

  • Ability to work independently

  • Experience with Canvas or other learning management system

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Responsibilities

  • Program Management and Administration: Plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities for effective monitoring of all pre-clerkship medical education curriculum program requirements for the School of Engineering Medicine. Develops and recommends guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations to enhance the pre-clerkship medical education program experience and course coordination. Assist with the development of goals to support the program and strategic plan. Compiles and maintains data to ensure compliance with local and nationwide accreditation policies (i.e., LCME). Maintains and ensures strict confidentiality with regards to FERPA and HIPAA documentation, i.e., student records.

  • Staff Supervision and Development: Leads and supervises program support staff and student assistants. Develops and conducts programs including leadership training, conferences, seminars, and workshops for program staff. Manages and provides guidance to the team by performing tasks such as approving time-off requests, conducting performance reviews, and serving as the hiring manager during the recruitment process. Ensures compliance, consistency, and timely delivery of deliverables for program support staff.

  • Curriculum Support: Assists with the development and production of curriculum support materials. Directs the pre-clerkship program with activities related to effective oversight of lectures, examinations, and laboratory sessions. Identifies and evaluates methods for curricular support improvement and makes recommendations to senior leadership. Coordinates or assists in large school events (i.e orientation, graduation, White Coat ceremony).

  • Communication and Collaboration: Attends and actively participates in curriculum meetings. Serves as a liaison with internal and external constituents on matters relating to pre-clerkship program activities. Partners with other offices concerning program management needs and activities.
