General Notes

This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based upon performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding. Occasional travel within the state of Texas. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

The Social Science/Humanities Research Associate III will support the Reach Out and Connect (ROC) Project with the Principal Investigator (PI). The PCORI-funded study aims to prevent suicide in LGBTQ+ young adults referred from primary care clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and contribute in the development of presentations for research and meeting purposes. Create research products, including reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Assist with and contribute to data management and project tracking under supervision of the Project Manager and Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Coordinate and support data collection by conducting study screenings and assessments.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement activities associated with the Reach Out and Connect Project, under the direction of the Project Manager. Coordinate and support the training of 34 clinic recruitment sites across the state of Texas.
  • Other additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education, or a related field with at least 4 years of related experience OR a Master’s Degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education, educational psychology, or a related field with at least 2 years of related experience. Experience using virtual communication technology such as Zoom, Ring Central. Occasional travel within the state of Texas. Values the contributions of others in the work environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with, and in-depth knowledge of, LGBTQ+ health and/or young adults, and individuals experiencing suicidal ideation. Experience supporting individuals in crisis or distress. Proficiency with survey data collection software such as REDCap. Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience conducting interviewer-administered surveys.

Salary Range

$40,000 - $45,000 - depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Occasional travel within the state of Texas

Work Shift

  • M-F, Flexible between 8am-6pm
