About Us

Toolkit Tutors is a high-impact tutoring company dedicated to helping students master academic content while developing the study skills they need for long-term success. We provide in-person, small-group tutoring for NYC public schools, supporting students in subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English Language Arts (ELA).

The Job

We are looking for a bilingual (Spanish-English) high school math tutor to work in-person with small groups of students (1-4 per group) at a high school in the Bronx. Students need support in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, with a focus on problem-solving, foundational skills, and exam preparation. Our tutoring model emphasizes structured, skill-building instruction to help students improve both academically and in their ability to study effectively.

Tutors will work approximately 20 hours per week, across 3 days per week, providing in-person instruction at a Bronx high school. The position pays $33/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging, structured math instruction in small-group settings.
  • Support students in key math concepts such as algebraic expressions, functions, equations, and geometry.
  • Adapt instruction to Spanish-speaking students as needed, using bilingual explanations and scaffolding techniques.

  • Take daily attendance using a personal device (mobile phone) or a school-issued laptop.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and Toolkit Tutors leadership.

Application Process: To apply, submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your qualifications and interest in the position.

  • At least one year of experience teaching or tutoring in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience working with urban school communities and an understanding of the challenges students face.
  • Strong content knowledge in high school math, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
  • Punctual, reliable, and committed to student success.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students effectively.

  • DOE fingerprint clearance strongly preferred.

Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of $33/hr
  • Paid sick leave
  • Paid training & PD opportunities
