Position Overview:

Tools for Humanity is seeking an experienced Regulatory and Litigation Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. In this pivotal role, you will provide legal advice on a wide range of regulatory issues, including consumer protection, financial regulations (securities, payments, anti-money laundering), sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and emerging challenges in the blockchain space. This position requires a proactive individual with exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing complex matters and projects across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Advisement: Provide expert legal guidance on financial regulatory and consumer protection matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Regulatory Strategy Development: Drive the creation and implementation of strategies to address new and evolving global financial regulatory requirements.

  • Regulatory Inquiries: Assess and respond to complex regulatory inquiries, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement solutions that mitigate legal risks.

  • Resource Development: Create resources and tools that empower legal counsel across the organization to provide consistent and durable advice on financial regulatory and consumer protection issues.

  • Project Leadership: Lead projects involving financial regulatory analysis, working closely with stakeholders across various business functions and within the legal team.

  • Legal Landscape Monitoring: Stay updated on the rapidly changing legal landscape to anticipate and address potential challenges for our scaling business.

  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative work environment by being a supportive team player with a positive attitude.

  • Hands-On Support: Demonstrate a willingness to engage directly in legal matters, providing practical support to the team as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in regulatory and litigation roles, preferably within the financial services or technology sectors. Government and prior in-house experiences are preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of global financial regulations, including payments, securities, anti-money laundering, and consumer protection laws.

  • Familiarity with blockchain technology and its regulatory landscape is a plus.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex legal issues effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

  • Proven project management skills with experience leading cross-functional initiatives.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • A proactive and collaborative team player with a positive attitude and sense of humor.

  • Juris Doctor from a top tier law school. Membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

Pay transparency statement (for CA and NY based roles):

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at TFH ranges from $195,000-250,000 plus a competitive long term incentive package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
