GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position is an administrative graduate assistantship in the BSOS Feller Center for Academic Advising and Career Planning and offers an in-depth educational and professional position to a student working simultaneously
towards a graduate degree.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
● Review student records as part of the major change process, including reviewing and approving graduation
plans, processing major changes, updating database records and communicating feedback regarding
graduation plans to students.
● Determine students’ eligibility for the College’s limited enrollment majors.
● Conduct academic audits to inform students of their progress towards earning a degree.
● Support graduation clearance process through reviewing student records.
● Review reports that indicate potential issues with students’ academic records and work with the registrar’s
office to resolve these issues and to maintain accurate academic records.
● Support the college’s implementation of Workday Student
● Other administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
● Ability to work with computer-assisted advising technology, word processing software, and databases.
● Strong assessment, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
● Able to learn quickly, independently and cooperatively to provide good service.
● Be accurate and flexible.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred.

DURATION
This position is a one-year renewable assistantship coinciding with the University's academic program and is a 12-month graduate assistant staff position. The position follows the faculty rather than the student holiday calendar.

REMUNERATION

This position is a 12 month graduate assistant position coinciding with the University’s academic calendar. This is a one year appointment, prorated based on start date, with possibility for renewal.

Remuneration will follow the standard rate for graduate students employees in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences plus tuition (up to 10 credits each Fall and Spring semester).

Must be a registered graduate student in good standing enrolled in a degree program at the University of Maryland and must be making satisfactory progress toward the degree.
