Job Description

The Shaw Center for Children and Families, led by Dr. Jenny Padilla, is conducting the Vivimos Unidos study to understand the experiences of Mexican-origin youth and their families in the Michiana area. This study focuses on how families navigate the challenges of daily life, with the goal of amplifying their voices and bringing awareness to their unique experiences.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to serve as an on-call interviewer. In this role, you will conduct in-person interviews with Mexican-origin parents and adolescents (ages 12–18) in the South Bend, Goshen, and Elkhart areas. 

Position Details:

  • Hours: 4-8 hours/week based on assessment scheduling and availability
  • Schedule: Given the needs of our participants, most assessments will take place on Saturday afternoons and weekday evenings (4–8 p.m.)

Please note: This is a Temporary/On-call position.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish and English; the ability to speak fluently in Spanish is critical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to engage effectively with Mexican-origin families.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience with interviewing, community engagement, or research preferred.
