The TIE Accountant I ensures efficient and accurate invoice processing, payment management, and vendor relations. This position is responsible for transaction reconciliations, forecasting payables, resolving discrepancies, and contributing to process improvements.
Invoice Processing: Receive and review invoices from vendors, ensuring they are accurate and complete. Verify that the invoice matches purchase orders and receipt of goods/services. Resolve discrepancies in invoice amounts, purchase orders, or receipt records by collaborating with internal departments and vendors. Manage the departmental invoice mailbox and ensure timely responses.
Payment Processing: Ensure timely and accurate execution of processing payments. Ensure payments meet vendor terms including tracking and managing payment deadlines to avoid late fees and penalties. Process monthly P-Card reconciliations and ensure all required documentation is provided.
Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status, invoices, or discrepancies. Submit vendor ID requests as needed. Verify vendor holds on state and federal systems.
Reconciliation and Reporting: Reconcile payments and ensure they are in accordance with vendor contracts or agreements. Develop and prepare reports forecasting future payable activity based on upcoming obligations.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure processes align with university, state, and federal regulations, including record retention policies. Maintain documentation and implement best practices.
Other: Process expense correction transactions. Act as backup to team members and assist with cross-functional tasks as directed by the supervisor. Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field or high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of relevant accounting and payment processing experience.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to interpret policies and implement procedures effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor and commitment to customer service.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
More than the required education and progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting. Familiarity with State of Texas or UT Austin vouchering and accounting policies and procedures. Experience using electronic accounting and work management systems to process web-based documents.
$57,500 + depending on qualifications
May work around standard office conditions

This job offers flextime, the ability to have a work scheduling falling between 7am - 6pm.
