Job Details:

General Notes

This position located in Los Angeles, CA and is currently funded through 8/31/2026. It may be renewed if additional funding becomes available. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. This position is hybrid, 25 hours per week, 1-2 days in person and the rest of the hours remote.

Responsibilities

  • Track student progress in the months leading up to the “Semester in Los Angeles” experience, ensuring that students are receiving the support they need and that they’re on track to secure an internship.

  • Maintain records, notes and tracking documents, abide by FERPA regulations

  • Ensure that the UTLA team is aware of students who are struggling, falling behind, or non-communicative, and develop a plan of action for supporting these students.

  • Observe trends in student progress, and use these to inform deadline timing for future semesters

  • Give students feedback & support as they prepare internship application materials.

  • Utilize established templates/grading system to deliver feedback on students’ internship application materials (e.g. resumes and cover letters) in a timely, supportive, and constructive manner.

  • Conduct office hours for Austin-based students (via Zoom) to provide one-on-one support as needed and conduct application material workshops (via Zoom)

  • Maintain general knowledge/understanding of entertainment industries and their intern hiring practices

  • Additional support of the UTLA team at the Wofford Denius UTLA Center for Entertainment & Media Studies in Burbank.

  • Assist in the set-up, run-of-show and breakdown of UTLA events, extra-curricular events, such as studio tours, screenings, panels, and field trips

  • Assist Program Manager in the writing and editing of weekly Friday Roundup Announcements

  • Assist in maintenance of UTLA alumni tracker document and research LA-based alumni

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Strong professional writing and editing skills with attention to grammar and spelling. Ability to give students constructive and supportive notes and feedback. Excellent organizational skills. Knowledge/familiarity with current entertainment industry trends, lingo, and careers/roles. Interest in helping students develop communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Technical savvy (i.e. ability to learn new software and tools.)

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree. Prior experience working with students. Prior experience working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Experience with Airtable, Qualtrics, and Box. Prior experience with the University of Texas at Austin 

Salary Range

$30,000 (amount prorated based on 25 hours per week)

Employment Eligibility:
