Outdoor activities abound through award-winning spaces, including an 18-mile paved walking and biking Greenbelt trail that encircles the city and passes through the UWG campus.The city embraces the University's students, faculty, and staff, and welcomes the diversity UWG brings to the community.Invested in education with highly rated city and county K-12 systems, both city and county public school graduation rates are 90% and above and rank among the top in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.Job Summary• Student Assistants will be charged with engaging enthusiastically with all residents.• Student Assistants will have programmatic responsibilities on nights and weekends.• Students Assistants must have a wide knowledge of campus resources.• Student Assistants will be working desk shifts.• Student Assistants will be responsible for participating in an on call, duty rotation.• Student Assistants will be assigned one of the functional areas below:• Orientation Tour Guide: Student Assistants will be charged with giving engaging and enthusiastic tours of all the Residence halls on campus. Student Assistants must be strong public speakers and confident talking to families and prospective students, must have a wide knowledge of involvement offers within Housing and Residence Life and seek to connect these prospective students to these engagement opportunities. Student Assistants must be able to connect perspective students to existing student organizations or to events that are hosted by the university during/through tour conversations. Students Assistants will be to assist with the physical labor of setting up for tours. For example, tables, tents, etc.• Camps and Conference: As a Conference Assistant (CA), you are responsible for assisting conference guests upon their arrival and departure and providing excellent customer service. You are also expected to provide support for completing tasks such as preparing client materials, assembling key packets, building walk-throughs, administering check-in/check-out locations and assisting with other HRL areas as needed. You will also assist guests with lockouts and provide security within your residence, assist with preparing buildings for fall opening, assist with ongoing HRL projects such as inventory, room inspections, creating decorations, compiling packets for staff training, etc.Required Qualifications• Must have a 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in at least five hours for Summer or six credit hours for Fall 2025 classes.• Must live on campus throughout the duration of summer camps and conference season.• Must Serve On-Call• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.• Must be willing to take all departmental assessments and certifications i.e. Risk Management, Right to Know, Vehicle Cart and Key Asset.• Will be required to work times of high demand during camps, dates will be provided during the interview process.Preferred Qualifications• Previous work experience with customer service• Previous employment or volunteer position with Housing and Residence Life. For example Resident Assistant or Hall Council member.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions• Student Assistants will be on their feet for the majority of the day during this job and will be exposed to the elements while inspecting the residence hall exterior as well as traveling from building to building.• Student Assistants will be asked to unload and set up equipment. For example; tents, inflatables, or yard games.
