REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal

Position Overview:
Valley Christian Schools is seeking a creative and collaborative Middle School Yearbook & Creative Writing Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a part-time position teaching one section in the morning Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate is passionate about writing, storytelling, student collaboration, and design—and is excited to help students grow their creative expression in a Christ-centered environment.

This teacher will guide students in developing the annual middle school yearbook and lead them through engaging creative writing experiences. The course encourages creativity, teamwork, and practical skills such as journalism, editing, photography, layout design, and publishing.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Teach a combined Yearbook and Creative Writing course for middle school students
• Guide students in producing the school’s annual middle school yearbook, including layout, design, and content creation
• Lead students in creative writing practices such as poetry, short stories, journaling, and personal essays
• Facilitate collaboration, leadership, and creativity in the classroom
• Integrate Biblical worldview and character development throughout course content
• Collaborate with middle school staff and leadership to ensure alignment with school goals and student needs
• Create an inclusive, engaging, and respectful classroom environment

Actively participate in the school’s culture and participate in school activities and functions outside of the classroom

• Must be a self-directed learner. Be informed about current pedagogical principles and best practices in teaching
• Carry out supervisory duties as directed by the administration
• Uphold the school's mission and act as a positive ambassador for the school

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• Previous teaching experience (preferred)
• Experience in yearbook production, writing instruction, or publishing (a plus)
• Passion for working with middle school students and encouraging their creativity
• Ability to integrate Biblical principles in instruction and classroom culture
• Strong communication and organizational skills
