Staff Backend Engineer - Intercom

Verkada is an innovative leader in cloud-based physical security products, rapidly growing with a dynamic team focused on delivering scalable and integrated solutions. They are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead backend development for their growing Intercom product line, collaborating across teams to build robust cloud-managed intercom systems.

Skills

Extensive backend software engineering experience, particularly in startup or innovative environments.
Proficiency with relational databases, especially Postgres.
Expertise in backend programming languages such as Python or GoLang.
Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

Architect scalable systems and design latency-sensitive applications for global Intercom deployments.
Drive technical direction and lead backend teams in project execution.
Collaborate cross-functionally to create simple, robust backend APIs.
Own backend systems end-to-end and ship significant product features.
Resolve complex problems that extend beyond team boundaries.

Education

BS or graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
