Job Description

We are looking for a creative and entrepreneurial product leader to help build the payments infrastructure that will allow the next generation of payment service providers to flourish and grow.  As the head of Clearing Services, you will reimagine how our processing clients settle transactions with the card networks, as we continue to deliver on our mission of delivering essential payment processing services, as a suite of specialized cloud services, operating at next-level speed, scale and service level. These a la carte payment web services will allow payment service providers, across the globe, large and small, to spin up a secure, scaled payment processing engine, as easily as starting up an instance of cloud compute today.  You will collaborate with cross functional stakeholders including Visa technology teams, regional solutions teams, customer service and sales teams to jointly leverage our respective strengths. You will also engage a partner ecosystem to build flexible delivery models across the globe.  You should possess knowledge and experience of acquirer settlement processes, with at least three card brands, including network submission, merchant funding and acquirer reconciliation. You will have a vision for conceptualizing and developing innovative solutions that simultaneously address deep customer challenges, surpass current market offerings, and advance Visa’s business strategy. Dedication to championing the voice of the customer and delivering pioneering solutions utilizing cutting-edge payment technology is a must. You should have a track record of successfully launching new products within a sizable organization, from ideation to implementation, with a focus on automation. 

As part of your role, you will operate in a matrixed environment, requiring the ability to communicate persuasively through both written and verbal means, to align stakeholders and executives on business cases and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall strategy and roadmap for the Acceptance Solutions clearing and settlement product suite, including partner management, stakeholder collaboration, product requirements, and new product introduction. 
  • Build buy-in from senior executives and key stakeholders with persuasive storytelling that brings to life the customer need, business value proposition, and revenue opportunity. 
  • Create an environment that fosters a continuous focus on customer and market needs, creative thinking, experimentation, and learning. 
  • Use metrics-driven approach to test new hypothesis and product initiatives. Encourage teams to pursue bold ideas and be fearless to fail fast and develop alternate solutions when necessary. 
  • Enable and empower a team to drive product decisions based on data, user tests, and experience. Make time/functionality tradeoffs quickly and ensure consistent execution of product plans that result in on-time and on-budget product delivery, partner with Technology to execute on a global roadmap and ensure prompt responses to urgent issues that are client and revenue impacting. 
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the diverse range of products and solutions that Visa provides to its clients and partners such as merchants, banks, fin-techs, and big-techs. 
  • Collaborate with solutions and sales leaders to learn about their market needs and leverage insights, trends, and payment experiences from different regions in developing new solutions. 

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Locations: Foster City, CA or Bellevue, WA

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in product leadership in high growth companies, including leading products within the financial technology industry or related industries.
  • Deep knowledge of payments ecosystem, in particular acquirer processing systems, with a specific specialization in card brand clearing and settlement systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in attracting, retaining, and developing high-performing product managers within a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Proven record of solving complex product problems from building, shipping, and scaling, to later stage production, successfully across functional teams.
  • Results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple objectives.
  • Creative, curious, and unconventional product mind with a demonstrated ability to apply inspiration from changes in customer behavior, technology, and business models from other industries and sectors to payments.
  • Executive presence with an ability to operate independently, influence and work hands-on with product, technology, and other cross-functional team leaders.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and identify new ways to innovate and differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results
  • Ability to inspire and influence others without direct management responsibility.
  • A high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 191,700.00 to 332,950.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
