About Our Client

Our client is a New York-based entrepreneur on a mission to build a minimalist and impactful meditation app to help users find moments of calm in their busy lives. With a strong vision and early validation, the founder is looking to bring this idea to life with the help of a talented developer who can build a high-quality MVP from the ground up. This is an opportunity to be involved from day one and help shape the product and its trajectory in the wellness space.

Role Overview

As a React Native Developer, you’ll be responsible for building the first version of a meditation mobile app, collaborating closely with the non-technical founder to bring the product to life. You’ll own the development of the MVP, from prototyping to deployment, and play a critical role in shaping the future of the app.

This is a part-time freelance position with the potential to evolve into a full-time role depending on the success and market fit of the MVP.

Responsibilities

• Build the MVP of a meditation app using React Native.
• Collaborate directly with the founder to translate product vision into a working app.
• Set up the technical architecture, development roadmap, and deployment strategy.
• Implement core features such as audio playback, user onboarding, daily reminders, and progress tracking.
• Provide input on UI/UX best practices and mobile usability.
• Ensure the app is performance-optimized and maintainable for future iterations.
• Set up basic analytics and usage tracking.

• 5+ years of experience in mobile development, with a strong focus on React Native.
• Proven experience building and launching apps from scratch.
• Comfortable working independently and making technical decisions.
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with app deployment (App Store, Google Play).
• Experience with Firebase or other backend-as-a-service platforms is a plus.
• Passion for wellness, meditation, or personal development is a plus.
