The World Economic Forum (the Forum), committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The World Economic Forum’s Center for Nature and Climate (CNC) is working on the agenda to develop thought and action leadership in philanthropy, with the aim to catalyse impact at speed and scale through multi-stakeholder collaboration to achieve critical goals across the climate and nature agenda.

This involves the global initiative Giving to Amplify Earth Action (GAEA) aims to build a community of the boldest and most innovative impact-multipliers for climate and nature leading to lead a journey of systematic transformation.  Our solution lies in multistakeholder partnerships between Public, Private, and Philanthropic partnerships (the 4P model), through three levers of activity:

  • Unlock seed capital and increase resource flow into climate and nature, creating a strong signal for increased investment, policy change, and corporate engagement.
  • Build thought leadership on the catalytic role of philanthropy to increase government and corporate leadership in support of the long-term success of the 4Ps.
  • Identify new areas of intervention and relevant companies, governments, and philanthropies that would benefit from a 4P approach, mainstreaming 4P models.

Why we are recruiting

As the global climate crisis intensifies, there is an increasing need for coordinated action to align capital, philanthropy, and business to accelerate systemic solutions. These efforts will be enhanced if definition, measurement and communication of impact is better delineated and harmonized.

To ensure that our efforts are effective and impactful, the Centre for Nature and Climate is looking for an Impact Measurement Lead to run a newly established collaboration with one of our partners. The collaboration seeks to promote standardized impact metrics, measurement frameworks, and transparency for climate and nature. It also aims to co-create impact vehicles to bolster philanthropic support for the Nature and Climate Agenda. This role will be crucial in assessing the outcomes of our projects and initiative, providing insights that will guide future strategies and actions.

  • Organize workshops and dialogues throughout Forum’s and GAEA’s various events to engage and educate philanthropists, wealth managers, venture investors and capital stack actors on adopting consistent and transparent impact measurement frameworks for Nature and Climate Initiatives.
  • Explore designing an impact vehicle within GAEA- focusing on a specific thematic area such as the Ocean/Blue Economy or Nature/Mangrove Restoration, to unlock funding for achieving global climate goals that are underfunded
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to assess the outcomes and effectiveness of projects.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies and success stories based on impact data.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on impact assessment results.

The successful candidate will be assessed on

  • Design and implementation of results frameworks and indicator design across multi-stakeholder initiative and projects.
  • Data collection and analysis for impact measurement
  • Project /program management to coordinate different stakeholders across different teams and geographies to keep everybody on track on key deliverables and products.
  • Leading international programming of events, agendas, and curation of communities.
  • Understanding of sustainability initiatives, especially those which span multiple funders.

Preferred Requirements and Experience

  • 7+ years of professional experience working in international settings, ideally supporting community or stakeholder engagement for public impact goals, ideally across public and private sectors
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and experience in data visualization tools.
  • Experience in project and stakeholder management, design of impact reports and core project deliverables.
  • A high degree of intellectual curiosity with the discipline and desire to also deliver short-term results and long-term change.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders alike.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a clear ability to prioritize and a strong work ethic, as well as the capacity to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
