Principal Software Engineer - Backend, API

Zscaler is a leading cloud security company operating the world’s largest security cloud. We seek a Principal Software Engineer with extensive backend and API development expertise to join our fast-paced, innovative engineering team to design and build scalable, secure cloud services.

Skills

Expertise in Java and Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security)
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or similar
Proficiency in containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of distributed system technologies like Kafka and DynamoDB
Version control experience with Git
Test-driven development (TDD)
Strong agility and ability to work independently in an Agile environment

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality, secure, reusable, and extensible software
Design and implement scalable distributed systems, microservices, and APIs using technologies like Kafka and Elasticsearch
Collaborate with front-end engineers to provide responsive user-friendly applications
Optimize system performance, monitor health, troubleshoot issues, and support CI/CD and DevOps practices
Mentor junior engineers and facilitate team growth

Education

Relevant software engineering or computer science degree preferred
