Sr. Staff Software Engineer - API Tooling and Frameworks

Zscaler is the cloud security leader operating the world's largest security cloud, serving thousands of enterprise customers including 40% of Fortune 500 companies. They are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design and enhance API platforms, develop scalable microservices, and drive innovation in cloud-based API tooling and frameworks.

Skills

Strong experience in programming languages such as Go, Java, and JavaScript
Expertise in API design standards and best practices including Swagger/OpenAPI 3.0, REST, JSON, Authn/z
Proficiency with microservices and containerized environments like Kubernetes and Docker
Knowledge of distributed systems concepts including caching, queues, pub/sub architectures, and monitoring
Collaboration skills to align development with product management and business objectives

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design of an API platform focusing on standardization, governance, and developer experience
Drive innovation and improve API development processes, tools, and integration methodologies
Develop scalable microservices and SDKs in languages such as Java, Go, and JavaScript
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to ensure reliability and security
Mentor engineering teams and foster collaboration across cross-functional groups

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
