used to panic and list 10 things. now I keep it simple: “I’m currently a CSR with 5 yrs experience in support and billing. I’m super into solving customer pain points and working cross-functionally, which is why I’m excited about this job.”
i wrote it out and practiced until it didn’t sound robotic. now I say something like “I’m a project coordinator with 3 yrs exp, mainly in fintech. I love organizing chaos and solving weird workflow issues.”
mine’s kinda a sandwich: current job, quick backstory, why i’m here. like: “I’m a content coordinator at X, started out freelancing for blogs, and I’ve always loved brand voice so this role felt like the next step.”
learned the hard way not to start with “I was born in…” 💀 just focus on skills + experience + what you want next. sprinkle a tiny fun fact if vibes are chill
every single interview starts with this and I still don’t know how to answer it properly. half the time I overthink and end up giving my full life story like “well I grew up in Chicago and always loved solving problems” and then spiral into oversharing. other times I keep it way too short and awkward like “I’m a hard worker who likes Excel.”
like?? What do they even wanna hear? I don’t wanna sound like I copied a YouTube script but also don’t wanna ramble like I’m on a podcast. is it supposed to be all professional? do you talk about hobbies? throw in fun facts?? I need an example from someone who actually got hired 😩
