Layoffs
Not racist, but why does it feel like non-Indian workers are the first to go?

We all noticed similar stuff but came to the same conclusion: follow the money, not the faces. Companies will pick profits every time,
I was let go while offshore hiring ramped up too. felt personal for a sec, but then realized they’re just slashing costs wherever they can 😞
layoffs + outsourcing are real issues but it gets messy when ppl start generalizing. gotta stay focused on how companies treat workers overall not who’s left behind
I try to remind myself it’s a business thing, not a ppl thing. execs see headcount as numbers, not humans. Sucks either way.
offshore teams cost way less, and companies are cutting budgets like crazy. I wouldn’t read it as personal, even tho I get why it feels that way 😬
Look, I don’t want this to come off as r*cist because that’s not where I’m coming from. I’ve worked with ppl from all backgrounds, and I respect the hell out of anyone who does their job well. But I’ve been laid off twice in the past year, and both times, I noticed a strange pattern. Teams getting reduced, but mostly non-Indian workers, while the offshore teams stayed intact or even grew.
It’s not just my company either. Friends in other companies are saying the same thing. Layoffs happen, sure, but it feels like a lot of US-based or Western employees are being let go while roles are getting quietly moved overseas, especially to India. And when I look at who’s still left on the team… it’s hard not to notice.
Maybe this is just about cost and not race or nationality, but it feels like something deeper. I’m trying to make sense of it without sounding bitter or xenophobic, but I’m genuinely confused. Has anyone else noticed this or am I way off base?
