How will you make an impact in this role?

Global Treasury, a segment of the American Express Finance group, is responsible for managing a balance sheet that provides a competitive advantage for the company. This includes managing liquidity and capital to support our business; delivering cost-effective, diverse, and resilient funding; and identifying, measuring, and addressing financial and operational risks. 

The American Express National Bank (AENB) Treasury, a segment of Global Treasury, drives sound banking balance sheet management to support the Bank’s business strategy while meeting their regulatory requirements. The team maintains robust governance practices and processes, drives process enhancements, engages in automation/technology initiatives, and considers evolving regulatory expectations, while supporting the long-term growth of the Bank. As a member of the AENB Treasury team, the colleague will have a unique opportunity to work across Treasury and Finance functional areas to support balance sheet governance.  

 

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Overseeing and driving balance sheet strategies for AENB by collaborating with Treasury teams, including liquidity, funding, investments and market risk 
  • Partner with colleagues across Treasury to drive results, meaningful analytics, and insights.
  • Supporting the Bank's resiliency by maintaining access to contingent funding sources including the discount window.
  • Support analysis of new business products and product changes to evaluate market, liquidity, and capital impacts for the Bank
  • Provide support in developing Committee and senior management presentations
  • Ensure AENB balance sheet processes are well controlled and documented (policy and procedure documents), while driving ongoing improvements and enhancements 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • We are seeking a fast learner with a proven track record of delivering quickly on multiple initiatives
  • A professional with strong financial acumen, an ability to drive insights through strong analytics
  • A self-starter who is intellectually curious and pays attention to the details
  • Strong documentation and analytical skills. with the ability to convey complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Treasury, finance or regulatory experience.

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
