Software Engineer (Infrastructure)

As a Software Engineer (Infrastructure) at Browserbase, you’ll be directly responsible for ensuring the operational excellence of our core browser automation platform. You’ll ensure it is reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and that our customers and developers know they can count on it.

As a DevOps Engineer at Browserbase, you will:

  • Build, operate, and continually improve the Browserbase cloud platform.

  • Help define and scope key infra projects, prioritize roadmap objectives, and sequence our deliverables.

  • Establish and reinforce best practices around infrastructure management, reliability, observability, and security.

  • Document everything as you go and share your growing knowledge with the Engineering team.

  • Work with the rest of the team daily, gathering their input and give them great support.

  • Be based in—or willing to relocate to—San Francisco and able to work regularly from our Union Square office.

Being responsible for our platform infrastructure means:

  • Scaling, improving, and growing our platform to meet rapidly expanding customer adoption.

  • Always seeking to level-up our operational practices.

  • Maintaining high standards for security and compliance, protecting against vulnerabilities and threats.

  • Making smart choices and good judgment calls around scaling strategies, migration strategies, problem solving, and troubleshooting incidents.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Postgres, and distributed backend services.

  • Expertise and practical experience coding in Javascript, Go, and/or Python.

  • To understand observability, monitoring, and availability (Prometheus, Grafana).

  • Strong networking, storage, and security skills.

  • Experience applying sophisticated CI/CD practices.

  • Experience implementing and maintaining compliance frameworks.

You’re a good fit for this role if you:

  • Have a willingness to do whatever it takes. Bias towards action and having a process that embodies “show > tell.”

  • Have a high sense of agency and accountability and can prioritize your work without much outside input.

  • Value taking ownership and responsibility for your projects and systems.

  • Excel in both written and verbal communication. You thoughtfully leverage different modes of communication that best fit what you’re trying to communicate.

  • Have direct experience building great products and like to collaborate with others to implement your ideas.

  • Are adaptable. You’re able to immerse yourself in unfamiliar topics and understand complex technical concepts in order to make informed decisions.

  • Are a strong systems thinker and can understand how your decisions impact the customer experience all the way down the stack.

  • Love working with a great team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Check out Browserbase and tell us why you want to join us!
