And through them, so does Greater Los Angeles and beyond.Position SummaryUnder the guidance of the Marketing Coordinator, the Marketing Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive marketing and promotions program for the University Student Union and its programs and services, with a focus on social media.Essential Duties• Assist with strategizing, developing, producing, distributing and analyzing a wide variety of marketing and promotional materials including but not limited to strategic creative briefs, online and mobile ads; social media, e-blasts, text messages and print ads; posters, fliers, brochures, lawn signs and other communications as necessary;• Assist with training and supervising the work of part-time student assistant employees, including monitoring performance; generating performance evaluations; and administering disciplinary action as needed;• Assist with providing leadership, development, and direction for a team of student assistant employees in social media and promotions;• Supervise the development of social media strategy, calendars, content and analytics reports;• Lead bi-weekly Student Marketing Assistant team meetings to plan and review marketing strategies and the consistent creative implementation of specific marketing tactics;• Assist with the coordination of video, photographic and social media documentation of University Student Union programs and services for inclusion on the USU’s YouTube channel and social networking sites;• Assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of the University Student Union’s marketing plan;• Develop on- and off-campus contacts relative to USU marketing ventures, including but not limited to: social networking, text messaging, the CSUN campus newspaper (Sundial), CSUN academic and non-academic departments and campus auxiliaries;• Supervise the planning, coordination and implementation of street teams, contests, visual displays, presentations, promotional booths and tabling efforts;• Assist with the coordination of focus groups, brainstorms, needs assessments and surveys to ascertain campus opinions of the University Student Union and its delivery of services and programs, for inclusion in the marketing plan;• Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation:Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.ExperienceProfessional full-time experience is not required for consideration.Special RequirementsNot ApplicablePreferred Qualifications• One year of professional experience in a related field working with marketing and social media management.Experience with project management systems/software. Supervisory experience in a related field.• Valid Class C driver’s license.Knowledge, Abilities And/or Skills• Knowledge of the principles of effective supervision• Knowledge of marketing functions, including: research, publicity, promotions, online advertising, and social media• Knowledge of copywriting, editing and proofreading• Knowledge of computer systems (Mac and PC), as well as MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook• Knowledge of the principles of student development• Ability to coordinate and organize a wide variety of workplace activities• Ability to adhere to assigned deadlines• Ability to manage resources and work within a budget• Ability to analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions and develop alternate recommendations• Successfully communicate with students, faculty, staff and subordinates including the ability clearly express ideas and directions verbally and in writing including attention to composition, punctuation, grammar, and spelling• Effectively lead individuals and groups• Work independently on multiple tasks• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.Working ConditionsWork is generally performed in in both a temperature-controlled office environment although some work may be performed outdoors in possibly inclement weather conditions or at an approved and appropriate workspace in the incumbent’s home. Must be able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines. Must be flexible with ability to adapt readily to change. Contact with students, faculty, staff, administrators, campus guests and the general public required.Supervision ExercisedThis position supervises part-time student assistant employees and/or volunteers.Pay, Benefits And Work ScheduleThis position is employed through University Student Union (USU).
